Delete your Point2 account
This applies to both the Point2 customer app and the Point2 operator app.
In the app
- Open the app and sign in.
- Go to the Account tab, then Security Settings.
- Tap Delete account and choose a reason.
- Confirm with your password, or with the 6-digit code we send to your phone or email.
The app will not let you delete the account while any of these apply. Sort them out first:
- Customers: an active or scheduled trip; an unpaid Pay Later amount or hold; a wallet balance above or below zero (contact us about a remaining balance).
- Operators: an active or scheduled trip; unpaid earnings in your wallet; a payout still in progress.
Without the app
Email support@point2.app with the subject “Account deletion request”. Send it from the email address on your account if you can, and tell us:
- whether it is a customer or an operator account; and
- the phone number or email address you sign in with.
We will confirm it is you before anything is deleted, normally by sending a one-time code to the phone number or email on the account. An email on its own is never enough to delete an account. We will tell you if something (such as an unpaid amount or a remaining balance) has to be settled first, and confirm when the account has been deleted. Do not send your password or a full card number.
What happens to your data
Straight away
You are signed out everywhere, and the account can no longer be used to sign in.
Customer accounts, after 30 days
Your name, email, phone number, photo and date of birth are erased, and your saved places, emergency and trusted contacts, device and notification tokens, linked Google or Apple sign-in, NIN and BVN, and verification selfies are deleted. A record of the verification outcome is kept.
Operator accounts, after 90 days
Your name, email, phone number, photo, BVN, bank details, NIN identity records and push tokens are erased. Your uploaded documents, vehicle details, saved contacts and verification selfie are currently kept; ask us by email if you want them deleted. The phone number and email of a deleted operator account cannot be used to create a new operator account.
What we keep, and why
Records of trips, payments, wallet and ledger entries, Pay Later, payouts, ratings, referrals, support tickets and safety reports are kept after deletion, because we need them for accounting and tax, to resolve disputes and claims, and to prevent fraud. We also keep a one-way fingerprint of a NIN or BVN so the same identity cannot be used to get around a ban. In-app chat is deleted 90 days after each trip.
